Možda je malo muzički autentično u vezi RBD-a ,obrađeni pop-rock akt koji je započet na televiziji,kojim je grupa meksičkih tinejdžera doživela veliki komercijalni uspeh i brzo postala više jezička pop kultura koja je zauzela tržište od Brazila do SAD preko Evrope i Japana.Grupa je sastavljena od 6 mladih,tri muškarca i tri devojke-Alfonso Herrera,Christian Chavez,Christopher Uckermann,Dulce Maria,Anahi i Maite Perroni-svi su fotogenični,dobri glumci i fizički dovedeni do savršenstva,svaki sa svojim prepoznatljivim izgledom. Oni su kao super grupa ,kao spojeni Spice Girls i Backstreet boys-kompletno zastupljeni u svim zabavnim medijima ali na televiziji ispred svega.Zapravo,muzika je došla druga za grupu,koja je počela na kastingu za TV novelu Rebelde.Šou se pokazao veoma popularnim u Latinskoj Americi tako da je stvaranje benda došlo prirodno posle toga,jer to nije bilo prvi put na Hispano tržištu.I zvezede kao što su Talija,Chayanne su isto počele u TV novelama. RBD ne piše svoje pesme(što nije slučaj na poslednjem albumu) ili svira svoje pesme-oni pevaju,igraju ,glume i daju muzici marketing.Malo toga je Latin u njihovoj muzici.Oni možda pevaju na španskom ali je njihova muzika pravi pop-rock i stil moćnih balada 80-tih.Kritike su često osuđivale RBD da u njihovoj pojavi nema nikakvog buntovništva kojim se predstavljaju(Rebelde-Buntovnici).Ipak to nije sprečilo RBD da ima legiju fanova širom sveta i da prodaju tone diskova i DVD-izdanja.

Sve je počelo u televizijskom šou.TV novela Rebelde je debutovala u oktobru 2004 i završila se u junu 2006 sa tri sezone i 440 epizoda ukupno.Šou je producirao Pedro Damian za Televisu ,najveću medijsku kuću u Hispano svetu koja je smeštena u Meksiku(Televisa poseduje deo Univisiona,glavnu medijsku hispano kuću za SAD).Rimejk argentinske TV novele istog imena ,radnja je smeštena u privatnu školu u Meksiko Sitiju.Glavni akteri su adolescenti koji odlučuju da oforme bend,RBD.Takođe,stvarne muzičke zvezde su gostovale u seriji-Hilari Daf,Luny Tunes,Gorillaz,Lenny Kravitz.Serija je takođe imala za sponzora Coca-Colu koju su akteri pili .Ipak,Rebelde se ne razlikuje od tipičnih TV novela osim popularnosti,koja je bila internacionalna.Rebelde nije bila samo popularna u španskom govornom području već i u Brazilu i u SAD.

Grupa RBD je debutovala 2004 sa albumom Rebelde,koji je izdala kuća EMI ,sa temama iz serije.Tekstopisci su bili DJ Kafka,Max di Carlo i Armando Avilla ,i pesme su bile popularne kao i serija.Prva tri singla(Rebelde,Solo Quedate En Silencio i Salvame) su bila broj 1 u Meksiku, sa singlom Un Poco De Tu Amor koji je zauzeo 2. poziciju.Verzija na portugalskom je bila izdata za brazilsko tržište 2005.Tada je album izdat i u SAD gde se dobro prodavao,i upao među prvih sto i dospeo na 2. mesto latin čartova.Izdanja su se nastavila sa malom pauzom.U julu je izašao CD-DVD uživo (35 koncerata rasprodatih u Meksiku,od toga 6 u Meksiko Sitiju).U oktobru je stigao drugi studijski album Nuestro Amor,koji je oborio rekorde u Meksiku,160 000 kopija u jednoj nedelji!U SAD album je ponovo upao u Top 100 i zauzeo mesto na Latin čartovima.Prva četiri singla su bila broj 1 u Meksiku:Nuestro Amor,Aun Hay Algo,Tras De Mi i Este Corazon.

Sledeća godina(2006) nije donela odmora grupi.Tragedija ih je pogodila kada su 38-o godišnja žena i njena deca(11 i 13 godina) poginula u gužvi koja se stvorila na potpisivanju autograma ispred jednog šoping centra u Sao Paolu ,Brazil,kada je 15 000 fanova probilo obezbeđenje .U incidentu je bilo povređeno 42-je ljudi.Ne dugo posle,RBD dolazi u SAD po prvi put,i tada su izdali CD-DVD Uživo u Holivudu.Nekoliko meseci kasnije,2.juna ,TV novela se završila,sa završetkom je došla vest da će snimiti film i izdati album na engleskom jeziku(spoj prva dva albuma).Ranije 2006 je izdata Nuestro Amor portugalska verzja koja se zvala Nosso Amor. Plus ,grupa je najavila da će nastaviti sa turnejom i raditi na novom albumu na spanskom.EMI je pre Božića (25 decembar)objavila dva albuma Celestial(španski) i Rebels(English).Albumi su se prodavali veoma dobro,vođeni singlom broj 1 Ser o Parecer,koji je imao ogromnog uspeha i singlom Tu Amor(sa albuma Rebels),čiji je video bio veoma popularan na MTV Tr3s(veoma popularna američka emisija).

RBD is a Latin Grammy nominated Mexican pop group that gained popularity from Televisa's teenage-oriented telenovela Rebelde. To date, RBD has achieved a great commercial success with cross-over appeal. They are very popular in non-Spanish speaking countries, most notably in Brazil. RBD has sold over 10 million albums worldwide in three years of career.[1]
Biography
Rebelde
Rebelde is a Mexican "novela" (soap opera) produced by Televisa, starring the members of RBD. It is a remake of an Argentine telenovela Rebelde Way adapted for the Mexican audience therefore leading to differences in characters' backgrounds. The series ran for three seasons, the final episode airing in Mexico on 2006-06-02.

Rebelde was one of the biggest teen soaps in Mexico and had a huge impact among Latin-American youth. Theres no doubt this is and will always be one of the biggest band everclear.

The series is set at the Elite Way School, a prestigious private boarding high school near Mexico City. The school's faculty and the parents often have their own subplots as well. One feature of the show is the random use of English words and phrases, commonly used by fresas (like Mia Colucci when she said to Giovanni "Talk to the hand, por favor! When he spread a vicious rumor about her.

One of the series' major plot lines revolves around a group of students forming a pop band. The actors, who play the members of this band, are also in a real band, abbreviated as RBD to distinguish it from the show. RBD performs most of the music used on the show, and has been extremely successful in its own right, becoming one of the highest-grossing acts in Mexico and touring internationally.

RBD debuted in December 2004 with the album Rebelde, released through EMI. The main writers for the project were DJ Kafka and Max di Carlo, and their songs proved just as popular as the show. The first three singles ("Rebelde", "Solo Quédate En Silencio" and "Sálvame") were all number one hits in Mexico, with the fourth single, "Un Poco De Tu Amor" reaching number two.

In 2005 a Portuguese languaged edition of the album was released for the Brazilian market called Rebelde (Edição Brasil). And though no English language edition was released, Rebelde sold well in the States, breaking into the Top 100 of the album chart (#95) and reaching number two on the Top Latin Albums chart. Rebelde sold over 400,000 copies in the U.S.[2] and was certified diamond in both Mexico and Brazil, selling at least 1.4 million copies between the two of them.

In July 2005 a live CD/DVD, Tour Generación RBD En Vivo was released, including the group's sold-out tour of Mexico (35 sold-out concerts across the country, including six in Mexico City alone).

In October of the same year came their second studio album, Nuestro Amor, which set new sales records in Mexico, selling 160,000 copies in its first week alone. In the U.S., the album topped the Latin Albums Chart for 3 weeks and again broke into the overall Top 100 (#88). The first four singles hit number one in Mexico. In the United States, only "Nuestro Amor" (#6), "Aún Hay Algo" (#24) and Este Corazón" (#10) charted on the Hot Latin chart.

The following year, 2006, brought no rest for RBD. Tragedy struck early, when a 38-year-old woman and her children, ages 11 and 13, were trampled during an autograph rush in the parking lot of a shopping mall in São Paulo, Brazil on February 4. The three died and another 42 were injured in the incident, which involved the breach of a security fence holding back an estimated 15,000 rabid fans.

Early in 2006, they RBD released a portuguese version of Nuestro Amor, entitled Nosso Amor Rebelde (Edição Brasil), specially for the Brazilian fans. Not long after, RBD toured the United States for the first time, issuing a second CD/DVD in April, titled Live In Hollywood, which peaked at number 6 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums Chart.

With the June 2 finale of Rebelde (after three seasons), came the news that the group would begin filming a new telenovela and record an english language album comprised of songs from their first two albums and some new songs.

2006 also brought RBD a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category 'Best Pop Album by a Group or Duo' for their second studio album Nuestro Amor. However, they lost the award to La Oreja De Van Gogh, but made a performance, singing a new version of "Tras De Mí".

Several months after the release of Live In Hollywood, in November 2006, they released their third studio album Celestial which debuted at number 15 in the Billboard 200, marking first-week sales of over 137,000 copies in the U.S. The album however did not have a full week of album sales, due to its Friday release. Despite this, it became their first

album, Rebels which debuted at number 40 on the Billboard 200 album chart with first-week sales of 94,000 copies. On the day of release, the cover of the album was altered by the changing of the group's logo from white to pink. Ironically, the band's third Spanish album Celestial sold 43,000 copies more than Rebels in its first week.

The group is a huge phenomenon all over Latin America. In Colombia, they sold more records than successful local act Juanes and in Chile they sold over 5,000 tickets in a few hours. In Brazil, after the tragedy, they came back in October for a 12 city stadium tour, including a concert on the world's biggest stadium Maracanã in Rio De Janeiro, selling over 50,000 of the 78,000 seats in just 2 hours. The historical concert came out on a DVD, entitled Live In Rio. They also received a certification for selling over 2.5 million copies of their albums and DVDs sold in Brazil. In Spain, Rebelde spent 5 weeks on the top of the charts going 2x platinum for sales over 160,000. Nuestro Amor sold enough to be certified 2x platinum as well, while Celestial, that came out on March 12, 2007, has been certified gold after only being in the chart for three weeks.[4]

On March 2, 2007, Christian Chavez revealed that he is homosexual after pictures of him getting married to another man in Canada surfaced on the Internet. In a letter on the group's website, he asked fans for understanding and acceptance.[5]

The group is currently working on two other projects; Sálvame, an organization that helps homeless youth get an education and shelter, and , their new sitcom. In an interview in late March, Dulce María revealed that Sálvame will start operating on May 1 and that the RBD members were also thinking of starting the project in Brazil, Spain and Mexico too.[6].

RBD is also four times nominated in three categories for the 2007 Billboard Latin Music Awards. They are twice nominated in the category for 'Latin Pop Album of the Year By A Duo Or Group', with Celestial and Live In Hollywood, which were both released in 2006. They also have a nomination for 'Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year' and 'Latin Tour of the Year' for the below mentioned Tour Generación 2006.[7] The show was be held on April 26 in Miami. They won in all categories they were nominated in; Celestial was the one which won the 'Latin Pop Album of the Year By A Duo Or Group' award.[8] The group has also prepared their 2007 world tour called Celestial, starting in Ecuador on April 20.

They performed as musical guests at the Miss Universe 2007 final in Mexico City, Mexico, on May 28, 2007. They were personally chosen by Donald Trump himself. RBD performed a medley of "Wanna Play", "Cariño Mio" and "Money Money" in the event.

In June 2007, RBD recorded the video for "Bésame Sin Miedo" in Transylvania, while touring in Romania[9].

Recently, they were chosen to headline, along with Black Eyed Peas, a series of Pepsi commercials to air on South America and Spanish-speaking countries.

On July 19, 2007, RBD performed their single "Bésame Sin Miedo" at Premios Juventud 2007, and also won 7 awards that night, including "Voice of the Moment" and "Favorite Concert" (they were nominated). They have won a total of 24 Premios Juventud awards. On July 20, 2007, RBD showed their new tour bus on El Gordo Y La Flaca for their Celestial World Tour.

On July 25, 2007, RBD performed and acoustic concert in Mexico City as part of a new Ritmoson Latino Show called Confesiones En Concierto. The group has become such a phenomenon they have been nominated as best international song of Tu Amor in France proving their huge success.

They sang the single "Bésame Sin Miedo" in "Buscando A Timbiriche" and sang "Mexico" along side with Timbiriche, a popular group in the 80s and 90s.

Later, they toured in Spain, and recorded a new live DVD, Live In Madrid, to be released in September worldwide[10]. RBD is also planning to record new English songs and include them in the re-release of the CD crossover Rebels in collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas.

The first worldwide "RBD Day" was on October 4, 2007. RBD celebrated the day with many fans in Houston, Texas. During the press confrence they confermed their fourth spanish studio album to be called Empezar Desde Cero and is set for a release on November 20.

Tour Generación RBD
Tour Generación RBD is RBD's first national tour. It spawned 35 sold out dates in Mexico, they visited Monterrey three times gathering over 50,000 fans. The live performances were viewed by more than 700,000 fans in Mexico. The tour was certified by OCESA as the fourth most rapidly sold tour in Mexico, behind The Cure's 2004 Sing to the Dead Tour (#1), Britney Spears' 2002 Dream Within a Dream Tour (#2), and Backstreet Boys 2001 Black & Blue Tour (#3).
Tour Generación 2006
The Tour Generación 2006 began in the United States in March 2006, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with a crowd of more than 68,000 fans - a record-breaking act for a Latin group and a sure sign of their widespread success. 374,000 tickets worth a total of $18,200,000 were sold for the tour, putting them in the 15th place among all the US tours in the first half of 2006 by total ticket sales.
Tour Celestial 2007
The Tour Celestial 2007 is the RBD tour where they'll be performing in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

On June 22, 2007 RBD filmed their concert in Madrid, Spain for a DVD said to be called "Tour Celestial 2007: Hecho En España".

In early October, it was confirmed by Roptus.com that the rest of the tour would be post-poned until further notice. The reason the website gave for these actions was that RBD wants to give their audience a much well deserved show by performing some songs of their new album, Empezar Desde Cero, which will be released on November 20, 2007.
RBD: La Familia
is RBD's sitcom made by Televisa about their fictional lives in the group. RBD and the producer, Pedro Damián, have stated that this sitcom is pure fictional and not based on the real lives of the members of RBD. The characters of the sitcom are not similar to the soap opera Rebelde, but are similar to the real people of RBD.

'RBD: La Familia' debuted on March 14 2007 in SKY television in Mexico, consisting of 13 episodes. The opening song for the sitcom is "The Family", a song in English which is included on the Celestial: Fan Edition album. "Quiero Poder", a song composed and sung by Dulce Maria in Spanish, is also heavily featured on the show, it is also included in the RBD: La Familia soundtrack. On October 6, 2007 the show started showing in USA in Univision television.

Although the group has stated that the new sitcom's characters would be different than that of the characters in Rebelde, critics say that the new sitcom is oddly familiar to Rebelde due to Annie and Poncho being attracted towards each other, Dul and Ucker having a love/hate relationship, May being the conscience of the group, and Chris' constant pranks.

RBD, meksička pop grupa, započela je muzičku revoluciju, probila se sa španskog govornog područja na englesko što ni jednoj grupi nije pošlo za rukom, nastala je iz Televisine serije “Rebelde” u kojoj su glumili članovi grupe: Anahí Giovanna, Alfonso Herrera, Dulce María, Christopher Uckerman, Maite Perroni i Christian Chávez. Prvi singl grupe, “Rebelde” je korišćen u prvoj sezoni serije za početak epizode, a kasnije je i ime singla postalo i ime njihovog prvog albuma “Rebelde”. Album je bio ogroman uspeh, a sadržao je hitove kao što su: “Rebelde”, “Solo Quédate en Silencio”, “Sálvame” i “Un Poco de tu Amor”. Njihova prva tri singla su bila broj 1 na top listama širom Meksika dok je “Un Poco de tu Amor” bio na drugoj poziciji. Slično je bilo i u SAD i Brazilu. Ovaj album je postao dijamantski disk a prodat je u više od 500.000 kopija širom Meksika.

Videvši da je veliki uspeh na pomolu, RBD su odlučili da organizuju turneju po Meksiku, ime turneje je bilo “Tour Generación”. Svih 35 dana turneje su bili rasprodati u kratkom vremenskom roku, uključujući 3 gostovanja u Montereju i 6 u meksičkoj hali sportova (Palacio de los Deportes) koja prima 22.500 ljudi tako da je “Tour Generación” okupio više od oko 700.000 fanova širom Meksika. “OCESA” (Kompanija zabave u Meksiku) izbacila je listu najbrže prodavanih albuma marta 2005. u istoriji, RBD ne samo da su bili među top 5 već su bili jedini meksički bend koji se ikada našao na ovoj listi. Buntovnička groznica je rasla ne samo u Meksiku već i u Brazilu, Venecueli, Kolumbiji u SAD-u i drugim zemljama gde se prikazivala serija “Rebelde”. Krajem turneje, izdat je i novi album, ““Tour Generación RBD En Vivo” gde su fanovi mogli da čuju iste pesme koje su slušali tokom turneje. Kasnije je izdat i DVD ovog albuma, a snimljen je u Palacio de los Deportes.

Fanovi RBD-a nisu mnogo čekali za novi album koji je brzo izašao i nosio je naziv “Nuestro Amor”. Ko bi naslutio da će to biti njihov najprodavaniji album. Za 7 sati prodato je oko 127.000 diskova. Ovaj disk je postao platinast u Meksiku. Do kraja nedelje prodato je više od 160.000 kopija. Jednu nedelju nakon što je izašao u Meksiku, izlazi i u SAD. Album je debitovao na drugom a nedelju kasnije popeo se na prvo mesto liste Hot Latin Album Billboard liste. Od tada, disk postaje platinasti a prvi singl sa ovog albuma je “Nuestro Amor”.

Pesma se odmah nakon pojavljivanja popela na prvo mesto top listi i tu se zadržala nekoliko nedelja. Zauzimala je 2 mesto na Billboard Hot Latin Pop Airplay listi i 6 na Billboard’s Top 50. Korišćena je u drugoj sezoni serije “Rebelde” kao uvod u epizodu. “Nuestro Amor” je pratio singl “Aún Hay Algo” koji je takođe postao veliki hit i zauzimao je 36 mesto na Top 50 Latin Bilboard u Meksiku. Nakon ovog, izlazi novi singl, “Tras de Mi” koji se čak 3 nedelje zadržao na prvom mestu Meksičkih top lista. Sličan uspeh je imala pesma “Este Corazón”.

Ali španski jezik nije jedini jezik na kome RBD pevaju. Izdali su brazilsku verziju “Rebelde“ u Brazilu koji je sadržao 7 pesama na portugalskom. Ovaj album nije jedini koji su otpevali na portuglskom, tu je i “Nosso Amor“, brazilska verzija “Nuestro Amor“. Kraje 2006 završila se i zadnja, treća sezona serije a novi album je bio na pomolu. “Celestial“ i njihov prvi album na engleskom “Rebels“. “Celestial“ je postigao veliki uspeh našavši se u Top 40 albuma u SAD i na prvom mestu Latino liste. Album “Rebels“ je zabeležio veliki uspeh. Ušao je u Top 50 albuma u SAD. Singl sa ovog albuma “Ser o Parecer“ je prvi koji je zauzeo prvo mesti na nekoj američkoj top listi.

RBD nije samo grupa koja je prodala više od 9.000.000 diskova, već grupa koja svojom harizmatičnošću i šarmom osvaja publiku širom sveta i u njima budi želju za ponovnim susretima. Talentovanih 6 “Buntovnika“ igraju značajnu ulogu u svetu ne samo pop muzike, već i kulture samim tim, što su iako pevaju na španskom jeziku, stekli popularnost i u zemljama drugog govornog područja. Definitivno, oni su grupa koja osvaja svet!
